Oscar Nominations - 2007

T he Oscar nominations are just in. There hasn’t been much changes from what was expected. Probably a noticeable miss would be Borat which despite having won quite a few Golden Globe awards has managed to garner only one nomination.

Dreamgirls leads the pack with 8 Oscar nominations followed by Babel with 7 nominations. Two of my favorite movies of last year - The Departed and Blood Diamond have 5 nominations each. Dicaprio is very much in the race for Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role for Blood Diamond though i’d have loved to see him get a nomination for The Departed also.

Martin Scorsese has been nominated yet again for Achievement in Directing for The Departed. This is his eighth Oscar nomination in all and his sixth for direction. Its high time the academy recognized his contribution.

It remains to be seen who gets what on Feb 25th when the Academy Awards Ceremony takes place.
