Another birthday passes by
January 10, 2007
I always used to have the opinion time flies by real fast when you hardly expect it to do so and it was the same case this year too. I got older (probably not wiser as always) on jan 4th.
Whenever i think about it, i am reminded of the birthday I had 2 years back. It has been the weirdest birthday I’ve ever had all my life. What happened then is reserved for a separate post. I think i am digressing now. Lemme come back to the point. I’ve celebrated (probably ‘let it pass by’ would be the right phrase) 3 birthdays in Bangalore and i feel as though i just came here.
This year, my pal Abraham kinda made me go to his place and both of us were there around 11 p.m. on the eve of my b’day. Two of our friends Siva and Arun came there as well and we started off by playing poker (sans money). The pleasure of playing poker using poker chips is an experience in itself.
As the minutes progressed, i was very much into playing, blissfully unaware of what these guys had planned for me. Around 12 before i could realize what was happening, someone turned off the lights. Those were the defining moments as i was kinda expecting the same person to cover a bed sheet over me anytime for God-knows-why reason. To my relief, in came Abraham with a cake embellished with a single candle (thank god it didn’t have as many candles as my age). Then it was some time for wishes, cake cutting and cake smearing. Am excluding certain things here for obvious reasons. We resumed poker again and stopped playing around 230 a.m. as it was a weekday and all of us had offices the next day.
All in all it was very much a sweet surprise and fun filled birthday which will remain in my memories for a long time to come.

[…] As promised earlier, this post is about my craziest birthday till date. This happened when i was staying as a paying guest 2 years back. The owner of the house was an old widowed lady who was as cranky as any person could get. However, I got along well with her during the first few months as I was the only person beside her in the house. I used to get back home around 9 p.m. after office and I guess she was glad I didn’t hang out till the wee hours of the morning. Even if i had wanted to, I couldn’t have, as the entrance to my room was inside the house making her open the door every time I came home. This was really inconvenient but it was all I could get when I started looking out for an accommodation, having a week’s time at my disposal. […]
