Oscars 2006
March 9, 2006
For the first time in years, the Academy has proved me wrong. I’ve always thought Oscars weren’t given to deserving candidates (actors or directors) or movies for that matter. This time, its a different case.
Though I still haven’t seen Brokeback Mountain yet (am planning to watch it this weekend), I firmly believe ‘Crash’ deserved the ‘Best Film’ award. The screenplay was astounding and so was the direction. Probably Matt Dillon should have walked away with ‘The best supporting award’ as well for his brilliant performance
I guess my expectations about the movie would have been high if I had seen it after the awards were announced. As I happened to watch it last weekend, I went there with not so much of expectations and ended up liking the movie a lot.
If you still haven’t seen ‘Crash’, I suggest you watch it rightaway.

[…] If these awards are an indication of how the Oscars could end up this year, i would be having mixed feelings. Dicaprio is such an amazing actor and both his performances this year have been awesome to say the least. He deserves an academy award this year at least just like Scorsese does. Hope it doesn’t turn out to be a bummer like last year. […]
